For the construction industry, assurance on the reliability of fire resistant composite panels is vital and, with so many different professions and trades involved in the final structure, traceability and demonstrable adherence to quality standards are valuable resources for manufacturers keen to secure public safety and warrant the soundness of their products.
To address this, the UK’s leading manufacturer of fireproof building panels to the construction industry, Eurobond Ltd, needed a powerful and efficient production reporting tool and approached InfoServe365 Ltd, a specialist in data collection systems, to design and install a suitable system.
Eurobond wanted more transparency in its production capability to easily identify the relative efficiencies at each stage of manufacture of its renowned Firemaster® range. The new system was also expected to help drive up Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE), to support rigorous standards of quality control and to cut back the amount of time-consuming paperwork for engineers by eliminating the need for manual data entry.
To tick these boxes, Blackburn-based InfoServe365 installed a bespoke touch screen, web-based management information system at Eurobond’s plant in Cardiff to monitor production of the firm’s steel-faced laminate fireproof panels.
InfoServe365’s straightforward, intuitive and flexible data collection system means that, at a touch of a button, Eurobond’s production and management teams can easily access critical business information such as the amount of steel coil used, whether the adhesive mix was right and if the temperatures during the manufacturing process were correct.
The InfoServe365 system also monitors a variety of daily, monthly or weekly downtime events, both by day and by shift, to provide powerful historical and real time production analysis reports that clearly pinpoint where system improvements can be made.
Eurobond’s Process Development Engineer Craig Cheshire said: “InfoServe365 has helped us to develop and improve our production processes. But the biggest benefit is in quality control through improved traceability. InfoServe365 gives us immediate access to highly accurate information on every stage of the manufacturing process which helps us to guarantee the long term performance of our panels.”
Mr Cheshire hailed the service Eurobond has received as “fantastic”, adding that any changes or modifications requested after the system was installed have been carried out by InfoServe365’s engineers in double-quick time, either on site or remotely through the broadband connection.
Infoserve365 joint managing director Michael Hill added: “Users only need web access to operate the system so there is no need for dedicated server space. With only a few mouse clicks, board members, production managers, process engineers and maintenance engineers all have access to empirical machine data, from wherever they are in the world.”
Infoserve365 is a UK leader in managed data collection and analysis, and the sister company of Optima Control Solutions Ltd (OCS), which has developed an unrivalled reputation for designing, building and commissioning high-quality drive control systems.
